My friend, Judy Mobley, of Prescott, AZ, via Chesterton, Indiana and Midland, Texas (Judy has gotten around!) sent this piece of art to me which she created. When I opened the envelope I laughed out loud! I LOVE the humor behind this. It is totally cool and I love what she has done. Judy’s daughter, Kelle McCarter, is the artist behind the head used on the ‘human’. Kelle has drawn a whole series of ladies’ donning hats for us. You can find the rubber stamp used on this piece HERE
.
Altered art is so much fun, whether you are altering a book, a box, a picture, or a piece of furniture! Your heart goes into each piece and I’m SO thankful to have a part of Judy’s heart in her art! Thanks Judy!

Here’s to the right to bear arms. Arizona has now joined in with the state of Alaska and New Hampshire and passed a bill that will allow its citizens to carry a weapon concealed. Arizona has always allowed the right to carry a weapon, but now anyone can carry concealed. Whether you believe its a right or not, here’s to those great ladies of the past! Would be kind of hard to conceal THEIR weapons in a purse, don’t ya think???

OK. So some days are better than others. We all have THOSE days as we age and wonder “WHAT ABOUT THE GOLDEN YEARS?” There’s a little Cat in the HAT poem going around on the internet that a FRIEND sent me (nice friend, huh?) and well, the poem is just TOO funny. So, for all of us that are ‘aging’, however gracefully, here’s to us!
This might be a fun item to use on a 40’s or 50’s or BEYOND card for YOUR friend! Enjoy!

Here’s a lovely card designed by Irina Blount. Lots of layering and the use of dies, beautiful shimmering paper. Irina does it again. She has a special touch.
And the little girls on the beach? The one on the far right is my eldest granddaughter, Taylor. I thought that someday she might enjoy looking at herself and her little friends on the beach in San Diego! They are all ‘embedded’ in this rubber stamp forever! I thought that Irina did a spectacular job with even the color of the ink; bringing forth the thoughts of a lovely beachy day.

Spring has come to the southwest desert. The hills around us are full of wildflowers, so abundant due to our abnormally cool and wet winter! I wish everyone a wonderful
weekend with their friends and family. Here’s a great little card from Jo Capper-Sandon using Janet Klein’s image LITTLE FRIENDS. Jo’s done a fabulous job creating her background and then applying the STAMPOTIQUE image. Enjoy! And for those of you who BELIEVE, I hope the Easter Bunny brings you a basket FULL of goodies!

Fourth of July.
I have no cards or artwork to show today as today is the birthday of AMERICA!
Americans all over our country will be celebrating the birth of our nation; July 4, 1776. With their families, they will be enjoying summertime weather, eating hotdogs, hamburgers and potato salad. Children will be jumping into pools, lakes and rivers; joining together with family, friends and relatives. When evening comes, families will be OOOO-ing and AHHH-ing at the grand fireworks in the sky.
As we all join in celebration, let us never forget our Lady Liberty, standing on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, representing to all that America is a refuge. Engraved on a tablet within the pedestal on which she stands, reads, “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
My two sets of grandparents came to this country from Italy and the concentration camps of the Ukraine, with the hopes of a better life; a life where they could work hard, raise a family and LIVE FREE, away from harsh and corrupt dictators, and become citizens of the land they so loved. At this particular time in our history, we Americans need to work together to assure that America continues to be the wonderful country that the original founding fathers believed she would be and that my grandparents found her TO BE. MAY GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA; Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. Let us never forget how fortunate we are to live in such a grand nation; one nation under GOD.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!!!

Jess Klein is still fighting for his life. Keep those prayers coming.
The COMMENTS section on the blog is now working, thanks to the infamous Sabine, webmaster extraordinaire!
Feel free to comment now as you see fit.
Maybe a picture or two tomorrow. Actually, I’m off to Tucson to get a granchildren FIX and also to snuggle those twins.
Saw the lovely bride and groom cardinals this afternoon. They were together up in a tree singing oh so sweetly. Spring is coming to the desert. Are there signs of spring where you are?

Here’s a pic of Jess and Phoebe-Doo (Labradoodle). (Jess suffered a massive heart attack a few days ago; see blog post Feb. 24). According to Janet, recovery is very slow and the possibility of Jess being put on a list for a new heart is becoming greater with each passing hour. Again I ask for your prayers to assist both Jess and his doctors and nurses. Give them strength and knowledge to get through this nightmare. Janet also needs your prayers to help her be strong for Jess and have a smile on her face when he wakes up.
