Meet Tom Thumb!

Published by admin under Basic card, Colored pencil, Watercolor

Spookycardstree.jpg

JUST how many of you out there remember the Tom Thumb typewriter as children?  I do.  Matter of fact, I loved my childhood toy so much that I just purchased this little beauty off Ebay!  My first time on Ebay! It makes a great card display, don’t you think? Sure, its ‘worn’ and rusty, but so what?  I am too!  But I still work and so to does my new toy!

The two cards shown are by two different artists. First, an accordion fold created by Josie Cirincione using Mr. Stripes, Row Faces, Moth Fab and Newt with lunchbox. She also used honeycomb background, Bla Bla Bla, and individual letters from Jill Penney’s Alphabitties.  Josie embossed the images, cutting out as necessary and colored in with watercolor pencils.

The second card was developed by Janet Klein using Rocky, whom she color penciled.  Using some scrapbook paper for the background she then “cut, free-form” some barren trees from black cardstock.  Now, there is NO way I could cut such great trees, but then Janet is an artist and what more can I say?  (Except that I love what she did!)

I think the cards look great along with Mr. Tom Thumb, don’t you?

Ciao, ciao…

A Sunfleur kind of day!

Published by admin under Basic card, Watercolor

Sunfleur-1web.jpgPam Russell from Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, sent us this e-pic of her great rendition of SUNFLEUR.  Isn’t she great?  What a beautiful job, Pam.  She was kind enough to send instructions too!

Instructions for Sunfleur Card

  1. Stamp #9167 Sunfleur in Black StazOn on 2 ¾” x 4 ½” watercolour paper.  Colour as shown in colour guide with Tombow markers.  Blend with a paintbrush and water.  Let dry completely.
  2. Mount the coloured image onto 2 7/8” x 4 5/8” Dark Green cardstock and set aside.
  3. Cut Purple cardstock to 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score down the centre of the long side and fold. (A2 card, left edge fold).
  4. Cut another piece of watercolour paper to 4” x 5 5/16”.  Saturate with water and randomly scribble with 3 coordinating Tombow markers (two greens and 1 yellow in this case).  Set aside to allow colours to blend naturally.  Let dry completely.  This makes your custom background paper.
  5. Once watercolour paper is dry, randomly stamp small butterflies and draw flying paths with the pen end of a green Tombow.  Mount to 4 ½” x 5 7/16” Dark Green cardstock and tie Lavender dotted organza ribbon around the piece and tie in a knot as shown.  Adhere piece to card front with foam tape.
  6. Mount matted image to card with foam tape, ¼” in from the bottom and right edges.
  7. Add 3 – ¼” Purple cardstock circles as shown and adhere purple crystals on top of those.
  8. Add shimmer to the dress and shoes with a purple Sakura metallic pen.
  9. Stamp #9087 A little garden in which to dream, an immensity in which to walk sentiment on inside of card with Black StazOn.

Here a chick, there a chick, chick….

Published by admin under Watercolor

Marysechick.jpg I love this little ‘peacock‘ by Maryse Carrier. Its fun to use lots of color with this bird and glitter, or just stay in a monotone.  Either way, it’ll make someone smile.  Maryse has a whole group of great rubber stamps.  You can go to the first page of Maryse Carrier in our online catalog.  Be sure to page through all her wonderful images. Maryse enjoys Prismacolor pencils and/or watercolors for her images.  When she draws, she keeps in mind the openness of the image. Her drawings have such whimsy.  I hope you enjoy this little card.

MothFab

Published by admin under Watercolor

Girl-sewn-card.jpg This gal’s name is MothFab and isn’t she a beauty?  Hand drawn by artist, Daniel Torrente.  Card design by Josie Cirincione.  Josie loves to use scrapbook papers as backgrounds and also enjoys stamping onto them.  She used two different hand punches for the flowers and our honeycomb stamp done in red.  Mothfab is colored in with a bit of watercolor pencils and don’t forget a bit of stitching with the sewing machine.  Its a great card with lots of texture and color.  Be sure to take a peek at Josie’s NEW book; her second now, BENT, BOUND and STITCHED.  It is published by Northlight and can be found in any bookstore and on Amazon.

The Gardener!

Published by admin under Watercolor

crafter-in-the-garden-for-w.jpg Rella sent this to me.  What a surprise when I saw it in the post office box!  It is SO bright and colorful, done with watercolors on watercolor paper, which also makes for a sturdy postcard.  Rella did a bit of hand drawing to fill in the imaginary garden.  On the ‘postcard’ side of the artwork is written ‘ you can find her in someone’s garden every morning, not always a wecome guest!”  Remember that if you are going to do some watercolor using your rubber stamps, be sure to stamp with Stazon ink. This is our image called The Crafter by artist, Daniel Torrente. This type of mail sure beats receiving bills!  Thank you, Rella!
